The Living Essentials Approach incorporates many natural therapies and healing methods depending on the needs of each individual. These therapies can be experienced as stand-alone treatments and are explained below so that you may have a better understanding of what is involved in our treatments.
- Nutritional Therapy
- NAET
- Kinesiology/Energy Medicine
- Reflexology
- Reiki/Healing
- Counselling/Psychotherapy/Talk therapy
1. Nutritional Therapy
A detailed medical history is taken during your initial consultation and you will be asked to bring a (truthful!) food diary with you. The therapist is then able to make an accurate review of your health and current diet and make suggestions for beneficial changes to you and your family's diet. Don't worry! - this is done together with you taking into account you and your family's likes and dislikes and will be designed to be simple and easy to do.
You will be given a healthy eating plan together with suggestions for healthy lifestyle changes. A follow up appointment is usually arranged so that your therapist can keep up to date with your progress and help you with any problems you've experienced. At that time, vitamin and mineral supplementation will be looked at and possible prescribed to enhance your success.
Nutritional Therapy is currently regulated by the Nutritional Therapy Council. The majority of qualified Nutritional Therapists are members of the British Association for Applied Nutrition & Nutritional Therapy (BANT) of which I am a member. BANT describes Nutritional Therapy as follows:-

See separate page.
3. Kinesiology/Energy Medicine
Kinesiology tests the energy flowing through a muscle to ask questions of the body. Using this simple but extremely effective technique, precise answers can be obtained about your health. Your body knows what is going on, we simply have to ask the right questions. We use muscle testing to ascertain your body's main priority at any given time. Once we have done that, we are in a position to find out how to fix it! This technique can be used as a general balance, to detect underlying energy imbalances, to reduce the stress surrounding a certain subject or to address pain or discomfort in the body.
4. Reflexology
All the parts and systems of the body are represented in the feet and hands by reflex points. By gently manipulating these points in a relaxing foot or hand massage, the body is brought gently back into balance. Energy is restored, the immune system is boosted, the body is detoxified and a good night's sleep is usually guaranteed.
5. Reiki/Healing
Reiki is a Japanese method of channelling healing energy from the Universal source through the hands of a specially attuned therapist. Each person will have a different requirement for healing and will take the amount that he or she needs. This treatment is carried out in a seated or lying position through clothes. Deeply relaxing and calming, ideal for those with stress or those recovering from an illness or suffering from a chronic or long-term condition.
6. Counselling/Psychotherapy/Talk therapy
Many of today's problems could be alleviated by having someone to talk to. Sadly, we are all busy and often friends, colleagues and family members are too tied up with their own lives to have time to really listen. By talking to a trained listener, you can unburden your worries and lessen some of the stress and anxiety you may be carrying.
